The Government of Dominica has secured US 9.6 million dollars (USD$9 600 000.00) from the Caribbean Development Bank for sea-defence and road works in Pointe Michel. This was made possible via a soft loan from the Barbados based, CDB, to assist in financing the rehabilitation of sea defence and road works in the aforementioned community damaged by the effects of Hurricane Omar on the island of Dominica in October of 2008.

The project is designed to assist in the rehabilitation of the sea defences and road infrastructure in Pointe Michel. This will facilitate the free movement of people and goods to and from communities along the south western coast of the island.
