Dominica’s Head of State, His Excellency Dr. Nicholas J. O. Liverpool on Wednesday, 3rd December, 2009 accepted the credentials of the new Austrian Ambassador to the Commonwealth of Dominica, His Excellency Thomas-Schuller Götzburg. The presentations of credentials took place at the President’s Office in Morne Bruce.

His Excellency Schuller-Götzburg pledged to continue working on deepening the existing ties with Dominica.
“Your Excellency, please rest assured that I will exercise my duty as Austrian Ambassador with my utmost dedication in order to deepen the cordial relations between our two (2) countries. They have been substantially enhanced over the last years at the bilateral level especially in the context of Austria’s increased focus on the Caribbean region. Let me use this opportunity to thank you for the support given to the Austrian candidature as a non-permanent member of the Security Council of the United Nations.”
Dominica’s President His Excellency Dr. Nicholas J. O. Liverpool, wished the new ambassador well during his term of office and outlined his expectations. Among them are the further development of bilateral relations and the establishment of honorary consulates in both regions.
“Your Excellency, it is my expectation that it may be possible to explore increased training and technical assistance in the wider expertise which your country possesses in the field of renewable energy and sustainable forest management and that CARICOM will take full advantage of the offer made by Austria to financially support the establishment of a joint embassy of Caribbean States at the United Nations Headquarters in Vienna. Your Excellency, I do hope that during your term of office, you will follow up with your Government on the outstanding issues of the visa waiver proposal and the establishment of honorary consulates in both countries as well as the further development of bilateral relations.”
President Liverpool pledged Dominica’s continued support to Austria in the international arena. |
