 Chief Electoral Officer, Merina Williams
According to Chief Elections Officer, the Electoral Office is still awaiting confirmation letters from individuals and the Dominica Labour Party.
“We have additional candidates but they have not indicated to us who they will be going up for because the form doesn’t provide for them to indicate which party. Therefore, the parties usually write in to us to let us know and the independent candidates supposed to inform us that they are going up as independent candidates. There may be two (2) more independent candidates but I am not in a position now to say that they are independent as we have not yet received the slate of candidates from the Dominica Labour Party.”
Upon receipt of all the candidates contesting the 2009 polls, the Electoral Office will then order the printing of the ballots.
The Government Information Service will continue to monitor and update the general public when further information is received including that of processes involved in preparing for an election. |
