Excavation work is expected to begin shortly on the Goodwill/St. Aroment Back Road. This forms part of the Roseau Road Improvement and Maintenance Project (RIMP).

Ian Singh, Project Manager, spoke with reporters during a recent tour of the various aspects of the R.I.M.P project and gave an overview of work to be done.

“The excavation unit that you see on Laudat Road, when they are completed in the next month and a half, they will go down to St. Aroment. That road is to be excavated to provide two-way traffic.

It is one of the biggest items of the R.I.M.P project even though the road is very short. The amount of excavation on that short road is as much as Laudat. This should take about two (2) months; then you will have the roadway being built. That roadway is going to be done in asphalt similarly to Bath Estate.

There is a huge retaining wall on that Back Road to be constructed near to the Trafalgar side. That should start in a couple of months also and hopefully, that should finish by August. We can safely conclude that the Back Road is scheduled for completion in a real short time.”

The Goodwill/St. Aroment Back Road, upon completion, is expected to bring much needed relief to commuters who live in the Goodwill/St. Aroment area as it will provide a much easier access to the city of Roseau and the Valley, putting less stress on increasing traffic congestion to the city via the East Bridge.
