Dr. Edwin Carrington, CARICOM Secretary General
Assistant Secretary General Irwin Larocque read a special message issued by
sir Carrington on Friday to Prime Minister Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit and the people
of Dominica.
“Thirty (30) years as a sovereign nation is indeed a significant milestone and
on this celebrated anniversary, it is pleasing to observe that Dominica has opted
to focus its celebration of the journey ahead marked by three words: ‘renaissance’,
‘renewal’ and ‘reconciliation’; each challenging Dominicans to more innovative
approaches to life to renew their commitment to excellence and to become more understanding
of each other. The theme “Celebrating the Journey Together” is a most relevant
one and the people can rest assured that the Community celebrates with them as
indeed there is much for which Dominica should be proud and thankful.”
