Electrical Installation and Agriculture Students of the Dominica State College joined the ranks of successful candidates who received top honours after writing the City and Guilds International Exams.
Official results reaching the Dominica State College from City and Guilds International show that DSC Students who wrote the June 2009 Exams in Electrical Installation 2 - Principles and Tropical Agriculture have performed outstandingly. Every student was successful in each paper.
The following eleven students who sat the Diploma Level Exam in Electrical Installation all obtained Merits: Andy Tonge, Andel Toussaint, Garvin Anton Aaron, Kevy Charles, Lenny Dover, Kimran Jean Jacques, Earlson Ryan Moise, Wilbert Huan Moise, Jairus Panthier, Englebert Memucan Stuart and Tobias Philemon Sebastien.
This is the first time that DSC students have achieved a one hundred percent (100%) merit in any of City and Guilds International exams.
According to a report reaching GIS News, lecturer of the Electrical programme, Mr. Joseph Matthew, was very ecstatic who noted excitedly that this is their dream come true. He noted that they were always focused and very determined to perform outstandingly in the exam.
Six students wrote the Certificate in Tropical Agriculture exam and were all successful. In total, they wrote 18 papers and achieved a total of eleven (11) distinctions, four (4) credits and two (2) passes. Melvyn Baptiste, Yannel Bruno and Hilroy Alfred achieved a distinction in every paper. Stacy Moses obtained two distinctions and a credit. Every other student received at least one credit.
Acting Dean of the Faculty of Applied Arts and Technology, Mr. Rawle Leslie described these good results as, "An indication of industrious, goal-oriented students and dedicated lecturers."
Communications Committee Chairman, Mr. Merrill J. Matthew, sees these results as a testimony to the instructional quality which continues to improve at the Dominica State College.
